Characters Name: Titus Alexius
Age: 15
Canon: Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic
Canon Point: Right after the events in chapter 165
Species: (explanation on this beloooow)
Gender: Male (though appearance wise he does look feminine)
Orientation: None really but if it came down to it I imagine he’d be bisexual.
History: Wiki
Appearance: heeeere
Personality: At first, Titus can appear to be a bit of a jerk. He’s proud, holding himself a bit high up on the totem pole since he knows he has a vast amount of knowledge and skills when it comes to magic. At one point he even brags about how no one has ever beaten him in a duel during his own duel against Aladdin. And while he is less of a jerk than he was in the beginning of his arc, his pride still shows through, even as a tease, like when he tells Sphintus he was useless and unable to help Marga when he could.
But beyond that, he is a very caring person. It doesn’t even take getting to know him to see how thoughtful of others he can be. There are several times throughout his arc where he goes out of his way and is willing to sacrifice his magoi to help others, even if it means he’ll become weaker or die as a result. The 5th authorization level citizens are the ones who were subjected to this kindness when he was willing to use all of his power to make a hole in the ceiling for them to escape. He also has a strong sense of right and wrong and isn’t afraid to voice his opinion when someone is being treated cruelly. In fact it’s even hard for him to stand by quietly and watch or listen.
Titus is a sheltered child. For fourteen years he was only told about the outside world and never saw it for himself until Scheherazade sent him on his mission. Even then he was never able to see and enjoy what the outside world was like until he became friends with Aladdin. So as a result of being so sheltered, Titus easily finds amazement and wonder in the most ordinary and the simplest of things, like a cat meowing, a mother holding a baby and people going to the store.
One thing he truly wishes for is to find someone who’s similar to himself, not personality wise, but situation wise and even background wise, because he feels alone and vastly different than everyone else. Dealing with a daunting and important task by himself, he wants someone he can share a common goal with, someone he can turn to and know that they understand him and can even help him. When he at first believes Aladdin is a subordinate like himself, he says “I think it is a good thing, that you are the same as me. To be honest, I felt a little anxious. I didn’t know how to behave… and it is not like I can ask someone about those things.”
“If you want to help only that child called Marga, then aren’t you doing that just because you want to heal some kind of personal injury in your heart… just for self-satisfaction?” - Magomett
However, those people he does find to be similar to himself, like Marga, he sympathizes greatly. Marga is a sick child who lived in the 5th authorization level until Titus took her outside. She only heard of the outside world from her mother and wished desperately to see it for herself, like Titus once did. Because he understands and has been through that kind of life himself, he felt the need to give Marga the things and experiences he didn’t get for many years.
“I envy them because they can live after my death. When they talk about what they will do after I die… it becomes unbearable.” – Titus Alexius
As it’s mentioned several times during his arc, Titus isn’t granted much time to live, and he’s very aware of that fact. It’s something that comes across as a pretty sensitive subject for him over time as he experiences the joys of life, makes promises and even friends. But because he knows he cannot have a future, he becomes envious of his friends and even greatly upset when they talk about their own futures. It’s a thought he thinks is unacceptable and he even hates himself for thinking and being envious even though he can’t help it.
But even though it’s something that makes him upset and envious, Titus puts up a façade of happiness to hide the truth from the others. So even if talking about the future he knows he won’t have, like when he spoke with Aladdin about meeting the mysterious Alibaba and going to the Laem Empire with him, he puts on a smile for them.
What it all comes down to is: Titus doesn’t want to die. After experiencing what he has, his biggest desire is to continue on living, even if it means abandoning his master and magi of his homeland to join his master’s enemy’s ranks to fight for his freedom and life.
Abilities: Titus is a very skilled magician and is practically up to par with Aladdin’s own abilities. He can easily counter his magic with his own.
Sharrar: This magic is a defensive type magic that creates a wall of mist or steam capable of diffusing light and light related magic attacks.
Asfal: This is similar to Sharaah Ru, except it creates a wall of air that diffuses lightning related magic attacks.
Aberrant: Comibing water, heat and strength magic, it sets free in an instant the stream that was shrank by an high pressure and explodes. It needs at least a combination 180 ceremonial orders to be realized.
Sharrl: Basic water magic
Halharl: Basic heat magic
Zorlf: Basic strength magic
He can also perform a number of other unnamed abilities like light magic in which he can create an illusion to make himself and others appear as other people, gravity magic which allows him to defy gravity and fly around at great speeds and ice magic which creates larges spikes of ice surrounding him similar to a barrier of considerable radius that diffuses or defends against heat and flame related magic attacks. Also as a magician, he automatically has a bolg which is basically a shield that can protect him from physical and magical attacks to a point.
Other: OKAY SO concerning his species—I realized that Titus technically doesn’t belong to any named species unless you consider “clone” an option. Titus appears human and is physically human (like he has blood and such) however, he is the clone of a magi. In his words, he describes himself as “a fragment of Scheherazade’s bone and flesh on which she pour magic for years.” So while he may outwardly appear human, he really isn’t human at all.
SAMPLES
First Person: [Titus has been in Holly Heights for a few days. The first few days were filled with hours of him trying to understand everything and settle down into the life here. It took him much longer than normal because of what had just happened back home before he found himself here.
But he’s still full of worry for Marga and the others. What would happen to them with him and Aladdin and many of the others here? With war no doubt threatening the Magnoshutatt country, would they be okay? He was scared for them.
So when the feed turns on, his face is full of obvious worry.]
People of Holly Heights, I have a question that needs to be answered. [There’s a pause. ] In our respective worlds, with us here, is anyone aware of what happens? Does time continue to move forward during our absence? I need to know.
Third Person: Titus was never sure what to expect after the events that happened between Magomett and Scheherazade. War? It seemed like the greatest possibility since the old man had practically declared it by refusing to return Titus to her. Scheherazade wouldn’t take that treatment lying down either, he knew that.
And he was scared.
He was scared for his life, the magicians’ who cared for him and Aladdin’s lives and Marga’s most importantly. Would bad things happen to them because of his choice to defect from his master and parent? Would these wonderful people die along with this country? Was his selfish choice to defect from his master and parent a mistake?
He was so scared …But he couldn’t bring himself to regret it, to regret wanting to live.
